MDA Camps |
In 2006 the Muscular Dystrophy Association held their first camp in Oregon outside of the Portland area. And they have chosen Camp Christian as the location they feel best represents what they want to offer the children with MD in southern Oregon for their camping experience. During the week, activities included an afternoon of games and prizes that was hosted by sponsoring groups and corporations and a fire hose contest pitting members of six fire departments against each other. The pool is a very special place for these children as it gives them a sensation of freedom and movement that only the buoyancy of water can give. It is difficult for some parents to feel comfortable in leaving their physically disabled children for a week with someone else. And having an open house for these families several weeks before the camp helps to put everyone at ease and provide a very special week for these children. We are very happy to be able to be a part of this opportunity.
